Minister Justin Marcél Carter is originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was raised at the Central Church of Christ under the legacy of John O. Williams and Steven Thompson Sr., Also it was here that he learned to love the people of God and the Word of God. He currently serves on the pastoral team at Sheldon Heights Church of Christ in Chicago, Il, and has for several years alongside Minister Leonardo D. Gilbert at that vibrant and historic congregation. He is married to the lovely Brittany W. Carter of Birmingham, Al. He is also related to Minister James McGowan who was pivotal with others in planting churches in Milwaukee and Rockford many decades ago. Since accepting the calling to preaching ministry, God has taken him to levels unimagined.
He is a firm believer in education, especially Christian education. Demonstrating this, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Religion from Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, Texas. Further, in May of 2019. he earned a Masters of Divinity degree, from the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Among all he has studied he particularly has interest in the witness of the Old and New Testament, and is well versed in apologetics and church history –modern and early.
His ministry has been a journey on so many levels, and he attributes all of his success to truly trusting the faithfulness of God. On a national level he has been blessed to expand his horizon in ministry by undertaking a plethora of internships serving churches alongside their Senior Ministers, just to name a few: Dr. James O. Maxwell (Kansas City), John Tillman, Jr (Houston), J. K. Hamilton (Dallas), Terry V. Atwater (Waukegan), Dr. E. D. Seamster (Dallas).
God has even blessed him to preach, minister and study in international capacity, namely in Mexico, Italy, and Israel, and the Dominican Republic. He believes he has been called into a ministry that is more than just a declaration from his lips but is truly showed forth through his life. Therefore, he has been on this journey of sanctification and consecration for as long as he can remember while looking to God who is the strength of his life and his daily inspiration.
